Telehealth

Telehealth Occupational Therapy (OT) involves the use of digital platforms like video calls to participate in therapy.
Virtual sessions may be delivered for one-on-one therapy, carer or education sessions, or assessments.

One-on-one virtual sessions allow children to receive therapy from the comfort of their own homes or other environments while still benefiting from individualized treatment. Telehealth is especially useful when in-person sessions may not be possible due to factors like geographical distance, health concerns, or scheduling challenges. Telehealth OT is available for assessment and therapy.

As for all sessions, carer input is always encouraged. This is particularly necessary for younger children and telehealth sessions. Carers will be required to set up the session for younger children. During the session, the carer will be guided by the OT, to implement activities with the child. This is beneficial for carers to learn strategies which can be implemented in daily life. Older children may require less participation from carers in a session.

To participate in telehealth sessions, clients will require;

  • A laptop, computer, ipad or other device which features a webcam, microphone and audio

  • Stable internet connection with adequate internet speed

  • An appropriate, quiet space.

  • Resources recommended by the OT. These will be recommended in a timely manner, prior to the session.

Please note, OT Kids may recommend face to face sessions over telehealth sessions when possible, to best meet your child’s goals.
