Individual Occupational Therapy sessions may be delivered with a client, their carers or educators.
Client Individual Therapy
Individual therapy with a client involves an OT working one-on-one with a client. It is designed to meet a child’s personal therapy goals. During therapy sessions, a child will engage in fun, meaningful activities that have been developed by the OT to meet their individual goals. Carer participation is encouraged when possible.
Parent / Educator Support
These sessions are to assist parents and educators in supporting a child’s needs in the home, school and community. They intend to provide strategies, reinforce skills learned during therapy sessions and emotional support.
School Visits
School visits involve an OT visiting a child at school to assess and support their needs within the school setting. School visits may include observations of a child’s functioning in the classroom or playground, engaging with the child in the school or playground setting, collaborating with educators or making recommendations.
Home Visits
Home visits involve an OT visiting a child at home to assess and support their needs within the home setting. A home visit may include activities with the child, siblings or parents. Sessions at home allow direct transference of skills and an opportunity for the OT to make recommendations for activity or home modifications.
